It’s not often that you come across a list of “best cigars” for women. They’re mostly marketed to men, much like video games, most electronics, watches, motorcycle gear, and toolboxes. Probably because it’s mostly men that buy these things but regardless of the reason, it’s rare to find cigars marketed strictly for women.

The fact is, there is a ‘best cigars for women list,’ and it’s worthwhile for women who enjoy the luxury of a good cigar to look over. Just as many women smoke cigarettes as men, so it stands to reason they would enjoy a fine cigar as well.

One in every five cigar smokers happens to be women, so there is definitely a market for it. Women, like men, are fond of good cigars, and several brands are a particular preference. Just like everything else, the cream rises to the top.

Best Cigars for Women

Tabak Especial

Women tend to have a more refined palette and scent sensitivity than men, so many of the cigars on this list are heavily focused on both.

1. Tabak Especial Corona Dulce

If you spend a lot of time perusing the cigar market online, nine times out of ten you’ll find the Tabak Especial Corona Dulce at the top of the list. What a surprise, it’s at the top of our list as well.

The Tabak is a cigar that’s strongly focused on coffee flavors and aroma. You’ll find that it’s a fantastic combination of fresh tobacco leaf flavor and medium to dark roast coffee, fresh from the grinding process and into the bag. They come in two lines—the Negra and the Dulce.

  • Shape: Corona
  • Binder/Filler: Nicaraguan
  • Color: Colorado Claro
  • Country: Nicaragua
  • Wrapper: Connecticut Shade

2. La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor Magnifico

These colorful cigars (well, colorful wrappings anyway) come with a delightful flavor. Once again, coffee is the first impression your taste buds get when you take that first puff, followed by a gentle dash of vanilla. It’s a smooth smoke for sure, medium-bodied with a nice, slow burn.

The Mexican wrapper is not quite dark brown but close enough for government work. It’s a new wrapper of sorts, insofar as cigar wrappers are concerned and the entire cigar is hand rolled at the My Father Cigars factory, located in Nicaragua.

  • Shape: Toro
  • Binder/Filler: Nicaraguan
  • Color: Maduro
  • Country: Nicaragua
  • Wrapper: Mexican

3. Espinosa Crema No. 1

A little less of a mouthful, the Espinosa Crema No. 1 is no less of a cigar than the La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor Magnifico. The thing that separates this cigar from the rest is the immense flavor that somehow remains in the light category.

It sits somewhere between mild and medium, and that’s just fine. No coffee here, just a splash of citrus, roasted peanuts, and something akin to a hayloft on a warm, sunny afternoon.

  • Shape: Churchill
  • Binder/Filler: Nicaraguan
  • Color: Colorado Claro
  • Country: Nicaragua
  • Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut

4. Java By Drew Estate Corona

A dark cigar, the Java by Drew Estate Corona is almost as dark a smoke as the wrapper that encapsulates the fine flavors of chocolate and spice. There are also hints of old-fashioned coffee and cocoa.

This is a cigar manufactured only through the timely collaboration of the Drew Estate and Rocky Patel. If you love coffee in the mornings, there’s no finer cigar to smoke while you sip your way through a cup.

  • Shape: Corona
  • Binder/Filler: Nicaraguan
  • Color: Maduro
  • Country: Nicaragua
  • Wrapper: Brazilian

5. My Father Le Bijou 1922 Toro

My Father Le Bijou 1922 Toro is a cigar that’s highly thought of and proclaimed for its enjoyability by women and men alike. One thing is for certain, its probably one of the smoothest smokes on this list.

The wrapper is a dark, Nicaraguan and oily to the look and touch, while the aroma is almost entirely a smokey cream from beginning to end. The aroma is very similar and it serves to enhance the flavor, which any good aroma should do.

  • Shape: Toro
  • Binder/Filler: Nicaraguan
  • Color: Oscuro
  • Country: Nicaragua
  • Wrapper: Nicaraguan

6. Macanudo Cafe Portofino Tubo Cigars

The Macanudo Cafe Portofino is an iconic cigar descended from an iconic brand. These cigars in particular are aged for two years and hand rolled, while the filler tobacco is aged for even longer in rum barrels.

This is a mild smoking cigar but the flavors are almost irresistible, with a mix of nutmeg and spice. The initial inch is all cream, followed by a sweet wood smoke of cedar.

  • Shape: Panatela
  • Filler: Dominican Piloto Cubano, Mexican
  • Binder: Mexican San Andres
  • Color: Oscuro
  • Country: Dominican Republic
  • Wrapper: US Connecticut Shade

7. Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Churchill

One of the more popular brands of cigar right now is the Rocky Patel Vintage Series. This one, the 1990 Churchill belongs on the list and is largely responsible for the popularity of the series as a whole.

Dominican and Nicaraguan Ligero come together in one cigar and the 1990 Churchill probably has the smoothest and slowest burn of the entire group. If you like licorice, you’ll catch some here, along with espresso and a hint of cocoa to boot.

  • Shape: Churchill
  • Binder/Filler: Nicaraguan
  • Color: Maduro
  • Country: Nicaragua
  • Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf

8. Kristoff Ligero Criollo Robusto

The Kristoff Ligero Criollo Robusto is manufactured using an ancient rolling technique that isn’t repeated very often among the many cigar manufacturers out there. It’s called Entubado Bunching. It improves the airflow in the cigar, making for a fantastic burn, but it’s a slow-rolling process.

The flavor of the Kristoff is beyond smooth, with a strong hint of spice and aged wood. Once you get into the heart of the cigar, however, it becomes all cream and just a hint of spice to keep things lively.

  • Shape: Robusto
  • Binder/Filler: Cuban Seed Dominican Republic/ Honduras
  • Color: Maduro
  • Country: Nicaragua
  • Wrapper: Cuban-Seed Honduran Criollo

9. Carlos Torano Signature Toro

The Carlos Torano is a very smooth-looking cigar with only the barest hint of a lightly oiled surface. Though the cigar is labeled as a medium to dark and bold smoke, most cigar enthusiasts will say otherwise. It’s a lot smoother and lighter than advertised, and that’s not a bad thing.

The flavor is a mixture of cocoa and a light, earthy tone while the middle and end of the cigar ramp up the cocoa until it finishes with a stronger earthy flavor along with some spice.

  • Shape: Toro
  • Binder/Filler: Connecticut
  • Color: Maduro
  • Country: Nicaragua
  • Wrapper: Brazilian

10. Ashton Cabinet Selection No. 7

If you’re up for a rich and creamy smoke from a light and flavorful cigar, you could do a lot worse than the Ashton Cabinet Selection No. 7. These have the affectionate label of “white burgundy,” which is fairly fitting.

That hayloft we mentioned earlier is back, and it’s just as good here, with subtler notes of roasted nuts and cocoa. The only time there is even a hint of spice is at the very end.

  • Shape: Toro
  • Binder/Filler: Connecticut
  • Color: Natural
  • Country: Dominican Republic
  • Wrapper: Connecticut Shade

Bottom Line

If you’re a woman and a cigar enthusiast, any one of these cigars should be on your list. Each one has its own set of wonders to explore, whether it’s through the smooth and bold flavors or the sweet and spicy aromas.

No matter what you decide to go with, there’s no wrong choice here. Make your way through every one of them, or stick with just one. Either way, you’re bound to be pleased.
